“A major city with small town ambiance," describes the city of Orange. Residents proudly agree. This diverse city settled in the middle of Orange County, is home to over 141,000 residents. The original settlers created an Orange Plaza as a central location for the city and is now referred to as Old Towne. The surrounding neighborhood, including the plaza, is now a national Historical District, the largest district in California. This private university has been educating students since 1861 and is known for its professional and liberal arts programs. The university has seven different colleges including a prestigious law school. Orange County Santiago Canyon College is a newer two-year college set in the foothills of Orange. The college opened its doors in 1985, but continues to grow in size and programs thanks to the generous donations from the Irvine Company and bond measures. The school plans to educate over 17,000 students annually upon completion of current construction. 

Orange Unified School District services the students in the city of Orange, Villa Park, and parts of Anaheim, Santa Ana, and Garden Grove. There are five high schools, six middle schools, and 28 elementary schools serving 30,000 students. Twenty-three of the schools have been awarded California Distinguished School and many of the schools earned it more then once. Shopping is in abundance in the City of Orange. The Block of Orange is a great outside shopping, dinning and entertainment destination.
